Storie di una balena

Emanuele Olivieri

“Once upon a time, there was a whale…”

“No, Dad, it wasn’t ‘once upon a time’: there’s a little boy right now.”

“Oh, really? And who is it?”

“Mmmhhh… Luca!”

“All right then: here comes Luca running toward the whale.”

“No, no, and no! That’s not right! It’s the whale calling him – listen, I’ve decided: today I’m the one telling the story!” A whale, a child, a cat, a bird: the poetic illustrations of Emanuele Olivieri, a story to tell and to have told.

Emanuele Oliveri was born in Rome, where he still lives; his life is – like everyone else’s, but perhaps a little more so – a constant revolution. He has always loved drawing, building, and inventing things. Thanks to graffiti, he discovered art and illustration. Then, gradually, he replaced graffiti with drawings, and now magazines with children’s books!
